Hello dear friends!
I am finally back! I feel so bad that it’s been over a month since I’ve made a new blog post, but life has just been that busy lately. It all started around mid May when my little brother graduated college. I still can’t really get over that part, I mean there’s no way he’s that old. Or that I’m that old. But it happened. That was a weekend long event between actual graduation and senior night at the baseball field.
The following Wednesday my sweet husband FINALLY made it home from Afghanistan after four and a half long months. If you didn’t see my Instagram posts from his homecoming, you should really go check those out. Our dogs lost it, and I got it all on video! On the subject of deployment, I just wanted to thank all of you guys for the prayers and the kind, supportive words while he was gone. It was one of the most difficult times of my life, and your encouragement meant so much! Once he was back, he had two and a half weeks of time off, so needless to say, we just spent that time in our own little world. So that’s where I was for the majority of the time. It was a much needed escape for the both of us. But don’t worry, I promise I won’t be taking many more, if any, month-long vacations. If you’re a military spouse, you know how precious those two weeks are, so we definitely did our best to make the most of them.
Towards the end of Kevin’s time off, we did a good amount of traveling for baseball games. Ole Miss ended up winning the SEC tournament, which was a blast. Then we went on to host a NCAA regional in Oxford that we also attended, then drove all the way to Oklahoma City the next day for a wedding. The following week, we found out my brother got drafted to the Colorado Rockies (wooooohhooo!! so proud!) and was going to have to report to Colorado this past Sunday. Of course, we had to be there to tell him bye, so Kevin and I drove back to Mississippi this past weekend. So. Much. Traveling. But incredibly worth it. It’s not everyday your little brother gets drafted to a major league team, ya know?
Along with being busy (it was a good kind of busy, in my opinion), I truly just needed some time for myself, not worrying about my Instagram following, blog stats, expectations of others, etc. Even before Kevin got home, all I could think about was him actually coming home. It’s literally all I could focus on. So instead of trying to distract myself, I kind of just took time to escape. Whether it was baseball, Netflix bingeing with Kevin once he was home, or even random road trips, I just did what I wanted to do for a little bit. I didn’t feel an obligation to do or be anything over the last four weeks. And for my introverted self, that was my much needed escape. Not to say the answer is always taking a month long vacay, but just make time for yourself and for your spouse or family. Do what makes you happy. Take time to recharge, whatever that looks like. And I promise you’ll come out much happier (and more productive) on the other side!

Outfit Details: Printed Swing Dress (similar) | Platform Sandals | Backpack (similar)
This dress has been on repeat lately, especially for baseball! It’s so breezy and light, and I mean, it has pockets. What more could you want from a dress? I also really love the collar detail on this. It gives it such a casual, sporty vibe!
I just wanted to hop on here today and share what’s been going on and to let you know I’m back! I’ll be back to a pretty normal schedule, hopefully with a new blog post going up at least twice a week! If there is anything y’all want me to cover this summer and beyond, please feel free to leave a comment below or shoot me a message!
Thank you guys for hanging with me during my hiatus, and I hope all is well!
