Hey friends! It’s been an unusually long week, so I am SO glad to see Friday. Anybody else? Also, how is it the last day of August? Hello, three-day weekend tho. Today I’m sharing a review about my experience at Salon Karizma, my new hair salon in Little Rock! I’ll also talk a little bit about what I ask for when I go for a haircut.
Also, the good people at the salon have given my readers a 20% discount on any one service! All you have to do is show them this post or the first photo of my new hair on Instagram!

Salon Karizma Review
So let me start by giving a little background on this subject. I’ve been in Little Rock for over two years now and up until last week, I didn’t have a hair stylist. I drove all the way back home every time I needed something done. So because of that, I was getting my hair done like twice a year, if I was lucky. What can I say, one of the hardest parts about military life is moving so much. And once you move, it’s finding all of your new go-tos like doctors, dentists, hair stylists, etc. It’s so intimidating, especially in a city the size of Little Rock to just basically close your eyes and choose. There are SO many hair salons here so instead of risking someone royally screwing my hair up (wouldn’t be the first time) or paying an arm and a leg, I just went back home to my amazing hair stylist there. She just gets me, ya know? But obviously that wasn’t a very realistic outlook.
What They Offer
I was SO excited when Salon Karizma contacted me about coming in and seeing all they had to offer. And they do have A LOT to offer, y’all! They are a full service salon, so you can get your hair cut, colored, washed, and styled. But they also do custom hair extensions, eyebrow waxing, eyelash extensions and even have their own aesthetician for your skincare needs. This salon literally does it all! My first impression when I walked in the door was that everyone was so nice and professional! They offered me (and everyone else that came in) a drink while I sat through my appointment.
About My Stylist
Sarah, who did my hair, was amazing. She’s cut hair for ten years now and just that little piece of info made me feel like I was in great hands. Before we started she talked with me about my hair and what I wanted, or thought I wanted. She was super knowledgable, y’all. I showed her a Pinterest photo of what I was wanting and once she was done explaining the process and what it would look like, she changed my mind. Which was great! Because I would have been super sad if it hadn’t turned out the way I’d pictured it. The entire time, Sarah explained what she was doing so I knew what was going on. She was so personable and fun, I can’t wait to go back!
The Atmosphere
On top of everything they have to offer, and my stylist just being amazing, the atmosphere at Salon Karizma was so fun! The decor and paint colors are super bright and inviting. AND they have a selfie station for you to use to take photos of your new ‘do! They also hold fun events and sell lots of great products right there in the salon. So if you are in the Little Rock area, or anywhere close, and are in need of a wonderful hair stylist/salon, I HIGHLY recommend Salon Karizma.
What I Ask For When Getting my Hair Cut
I’m one of those people that likes to change my hair up every 6 months because I get bored with it. When asking for the cut, I always tell the stylist I don’t want layers. In the past, my hair has not done well with them so I avoid them at all costs. I have naturally wavy hair, and a lot of it, but the texture is fine. Aka, it rarely does what I want it to. If I have really obvious short layers and there is any humidity in the air, the layers flip out or get a weird wave and it’s just bad. So I will either say I want a blunt cut (especially for a short cut) or choppy ends. The last two times I’ve gone with choppy ends because it gets rid of a lot of heaviness and bulk in the ends. The main thing that changes with my cut is the length. I had really long hair for my wedding (and when I started this blog), but I’m very a much a short-hair kind of girl.
The color is where I like to change things up the most. I only color my hair twice or maybe three times a year so that it stays healthy and I never do it myself. I’m super into subtle ombre and have been for a while, so it’s kind of my go-to. This time I asked for an ash/mushroom brown base color with hazy grey ends. I know, you’r probably thinking “grey?!” But y’all if it’s done right, it looks so cool! It’s super subtle and in my case you can only see it if I wear my hair a certain way, which I love!
