Happy Friday, y’all! Today is the definition of a casual Friday. All I want to do is throw on something comfy and hang out on the couch. Do you ever have those days where you wish you could wear your lounge clothes out of the house? Maybe to work or even date night? This happens to me ALL the time once it starts to cool off outside. Well good news, friends! You totally can if you know how to style them. So today, I’m going to share a few sneaky tricks on how to dress up your favorite comfy clothes and take them from your couch to the office!

How To Dress Up Your Favorite Comfy Clothes
There are several simple tricks to instantly take your comfy clothes to a socially acceptable level haha. First it’s important to know what items are actually appropriate for wearing to work or a dressier event. Look for things like quality fabrics, appropriate coverage, etc. Avoid pieces that are cropped, sheer, and things that are overly casual like fleece sweats with a drawstring. The goal is to be comfy but still look put together. 🙂 When you’re purchasing something more casual/comfy, think about all the possible ways you can wear it before you buy it. Can you dress it up if you need to? The pants I’m wearing in these photos are such a good example of this. They have an elastic waist and are made of a super soft brushed knit material, but the wide leg and cropped length make them so versatile.
Layers
I think one of the easiest ways to dress up your comfy outfit is by adding a layer. You can do a lot with a simple tee if you put something on top of it like a cardigan or a blazer! A layer will usually draw attention away from the fact that you’re wearing a basic t-shirt underneath.
Accessorize
Accessories are your best friends when it comes to dressing up your look. Add a statement necklace or earrings, as opposed to something more dainty. Choose a bag that stands out too! Something with an animal print, fun shape, or interesting materials. These things are sure to give the appearance of a more dressed up, put together outfit.
Add a Heel
There is nothing you can’t accomplish with a good pair of heels. Honestly though, if you want to dress up, just add heels. It doesn’t have to be anything outrageous! The smallest heel instantly dresses up whatever outfit you have on. If heels aren’t your thing, start off with something like a block heeled bootie or mule. They tend to be way more comfy than you’d think!
About The Outfit
This outfit will likely be on repeat this fall. I am in love with this plush cardigan from American Eagle. You can wear it with so much, plus it’s the softest thing in my closet currently. I’m wearing a size Medium. Underneath the cardigan, I am wearing a long-sleeve pocket tee that I’ve tied in a knot. (You could also tuck in the front of this tee to give a dressier look!) It’s the same tee as the striped one from the Nordstrom Sale that I wear ALL the time. It has a slightly loose fit, which I love, and it’s great for layering. By the way, this tee is back in stock in most sizes and colors! It’s on sale for $17 so don’t miss your chance to grab one or two! I’m wearing a size Small. These wide leg cropped pants are so incredibly comfortable. They have an elastic waist, and the material is extra soft and of great quality. I believe these exact ones are sold out, but I’ll link some similar ones below!
