What is A Monochrome Look?
Monochrome in fashion simply means wearing separates of the same or similar color to create a tonal or uniform look. You know the ever popular all white looks you see all over Pinterest? Monochrome! But the term doesn’t only apply to neutral tones. You can create a monochrome look with any color, as long as the colors are all from the same family. It’s a great way to create an elevated, chic look with ease.

Mix Colors That Are Slightly Different Tones
One of the best ways to pull off the monochrome look is to pair slightly different tones of the same color. For example, pair an off-white top with a white bottom. This gives you a uniform look, but it also breaks up your outfit just enough to make it interesting.
Pair Different Textures Together
This is one of my favorite tips when putting together almost any outfit, so of course I have to mention it here. Mixing different textures together creates such a fun look and in my opinion, brings warmth to your outfit.
Lighter Colors Act as a Highlighter
When putting together a monochrome look, it’s important to remember that the lighter color is going to act as a highlighter and draw the eye to that part of your body. So this is a great way to draw attention to or away from a part of your body, depending on your preference. For example, if you’re wearing an off white top and a bright white jean or skirt, the eye is going to be drawn to your lower body. It can even create an elongating effect. If you want to highlight your face, wear the brighter white on top.
Incorporate A Pattern With Only One Color
When I say “a pattern with only one color” I mean one additional color. For example, if you’re going for an all-white monochrome look, but want to add a pattern, add a skirt with small black polka dots or floral print. This adds a little something extra without taking away from the monochrome look you’re going for.
Add A Pop Of Color With Your Accessories
If you want to be adventurous with your monochrome, feel free to add a pop of color or a print with your accessories. With this outfit, I chose to throw in a calf hair bucket bag with metallic accents. If you’re really feeling wild, don’t be afraid to try a bold blue, red, or black bag.

About The Outfit
So this Free People tunic might be one of my favorite purchases from this winter. I want it in every single color and I honestly wish I could wear it everyday. I do wear it most days haha. It’s the perfect length to pair with l leggings or jeans, but it’s also super cute as a dress paired with over the knee boots. I’m wearing a size Small.
To achieve the monochrome look with this tunic, I paired it with these white ripped jeans from American Eagle. I love that this outfit gave me an excuse to wear white in the winter. I think it’s so chic, but it was also so easy to throw together. One of the best things about a monochromatic outfit is that it takes the guess work out of trying to coordinate colors. Wearing a size 4 regular in these jeans.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and that you have a wonderful week! It’s supposed to rain here for the next 15 days, but I’ll do my best to find the silver lining haha! As always, thank you for taking time to read my post. It truly means so much that you’re here!
