When summer gets here a lot of things start to change, along with the weather. We bring out an entirely new wardrobe, accessories and all. Some of us change up our home decor to match the bright, colorful blooms outside. I don’t know about you, but my skin starts to change too. It goes from being extremely dry to a little more on the oily side, which can lead to breakouts. The amount of traveling I do starts to increase, along with sun exposure and so on. Because of that I tend to change up my skincare routine with the seasons. So today, for the first time, I’m sharing my summer skincare routine with you guys! In the past I would not have felt comfortable or “expert” enough to do this, but I feel like I’ve finally found what works for me, and I like the groove I’m in with my skincare. I’ll be sharing what I do daily and weekly to help keep my skin looking and feeling it’s best this time of the year!

My Must-Have Skincare Products
Like I said, it has taken me a while to get to the point where I feel like I have a go-to routine for my skin. I’ve tried hundreds of products that seemed to do nothing for my skin. After being in the blogging world for a little while, I started to hear a lot about Tula products. The packaging was SO appealing and the rave reviews were enough to get me to the website. I was a little bummed at first to see how pricey some of the products were, but I knew since I was getting older, it was time to really invest in my skin. In the last couple of years, I’ve decided there are 2 things worth really splurging on: good shoes and good, clean skincare. So I took the plunge and ordered the Tula starter kit. After about 4 weeks, I was hooked. These products are all clean, cruelty free, and full of probiotics that nourish the skin. I’ll go into more detail about the products below when I break down my routine!

Along with my daily skincare products, there are a few other products that I HAVE to have on hand. Those things include masks, exfoliators, and facial sprays. The masks that I am currently LOVING are these eye masks from VII Code. If you remember last year, I wrote about their amazing eye cream. The eye masks have been such a game changer for me. They come in a box of 6 which is an amazing value. They’re packed with antioxidants and are incredibly cooling. They feel like heaven on my skin. I love to put them on at night and just lounge around in them. They are designed to be worn for up to 8 hours, meaning you can easily sleep in them for extra benefits. I’ve also been loving the brand new hydrating eye spray from VII Code. This spray helps keep the eye area hydrated and rejuvenated. I love to use this spray after a workout or a long day of travel.

Daily Skincare Routine
A.M.
Step 1: Wake up the skin – I honestly don’t do much as far as skincare goes in the mornings. A couple of times a week I’ll roll my face with a jade roller or ice roller. This ice roller from Amazon is super affordable and it feels amazing. It’s the best way to wake myself up on early mornings. It also helps to reduce redness and de-puff my eyes.
Step 2: Tone the skin with either the Tula Pro-Glycolic Resurfacing Gel or the Acne Clearing Gel. I just recently started using the Acne Clearing Gel because my skin tends to breakout more in the summertime. It is also designed to reduce the appearance of acne scars which I do have from my middle/high school days.
Note: I will wash my face in the shower with the Tula Purifying Cleanser after workouts on days that I workout during the morning.
Step 3: Moisturize with my absolute favorite: the Tula Day and Night Cream. This stuff is really what sold me on the Tula line. It feels absolutely AMAZING on the skin. It is incredibly hydrating, but not sticky, and it doesn’t leave a residue on my face. If you have oily skin, I do recommend trying the Oil-Free Gel Cream first. If it isn’t hydrating enough, then move on to the Day and Night Cream. I may give the Gel Cream a try this summer too! And that’s it! Super quick and easy in the morning.

P.M.
My nighttime routine is the same as above, except for two additional steps.
Step 1: Cleanse with the Purifying Cleanser to remove makeup and impurities from the day. This is the first cleanser I have ever used that will actually remove ALL of my makeup. I love that this cleanser isn’t harsh or drying on the skin.
Step 2: Remove Eye Makeup with this Neutrogena Deep Clean Purifying Micellar Water. It’s great for removing lipstick and mascara that doesn’t easily come off with water and a cleanser. Sometimes I’ll use a cotton pad to swipe this over the skin, just to make sure I didn’t miss any spots with my cleanser.
Step 3: Tone using either the Tula Pro-Glycolic Resurfacing Gel or the Acne Clearing Gel.
Step 4: Moisturize with the Day and Night Cream mentioned above. Super simple, but very effective. I have seen such a major difference in my skin since I started using Tula. It’s been about 8 months now, and I don’t see it changing anytime soon!

Weekly Skincare Routine
There are some things that I don’t do every single day, but I still like to do weekly, or as needed, so I wanted to mention those here.
Masks: One of the things that I like to do 1-2 times a week are masks. My current favorite mask, as mentioned earlier is the VII Code Eye masks. While you can sleep in them, I chose not to just because I’m such a light sleeper and I think they would bug me. But they do stay on really well. I like to put them on and do things around the house or lounge and enjoy a movie. I try to leave them on for around 4 hours minimum. Another mask I’m currently loving is this Neutrogena Hydro Boost mask for extra hydration and cooling.

Exfoliate: Another really important part of my weekly skincare routine is exfoliation. I typically do this 2-3 times a week during the summer just to remove the dead skin and keep my face smooth and my pores unclogged. I love to use this Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion or this Mario Badescu Strawberry Face Scrub for a more gentle option. Plus it smells SO good.
Refresh: Other notable products include this Kopari Coconut Rose Toner, which I use occasionally in the mornings before I put on my makeup to tighten pores/hydrate or throughout the day to freshen up my face. I’m also loving the above mentioned VII Code Hydrating Eye Spray to keep the skin around my eyes moisturized and rejuvenated after a long, stressful day.
