What is up friends! Hope you’ve all had the most wonderful week. But hey, if not, today’s Friday and that means it’s almost over haha. Not to mention, it’s a three-day weekend! It has gotten SUPA hot here within the last few days, so we’ve been trying to stay cool. The other day, I asked what topic you all wanted to see on the blog next, and you chose 3 Ways to Style, which is like my favorite kind of post. So I thought I would share one of my all time favorite summer staples with you guys, and three different ways I love to style it! That summer staple is a short sleeve button down shirt!
Why I love Button Downs in the Summer
I can’t think of a better staple piece when the days start to warm up. While I love both long and short sleeve button downs, a short sleep option is the one I typically reach for this time of year, for obvious reasons. But they’re so incredibly versatile and make for the best summer time layering piece. They can also be great swim coverups if you don’t have one already. On top of all that, the fabrics usually ROCK. Like so soft and comfy and breezy on a warm day!

3 Ways to Style a Button Down
Button up? Button down? Does anybody know the difference? I don’t know if there is a difference haha, so I’m calling it a button down. Feel free to correct me.
As a Top Layer
I love to wear my button downs over a tank or short sleeve tee. If you have a base layer, you can easily take off your button down and it around your waist when you get hot. For this look, I’ve paired my striped button down with a white tank and my favorite mid length denim shorts. This outfit just screams summertime to me. You can tuck in your tank, leave it out, tie it up. There are so many options! I threw on my white sneakers and grabbed my straw bag to complete the casual look.
BY THE WAY: the button down and shorts are both from Abercrombie and are half off for a limited time. I HIGHLY recommend these shorts if you’ve been looking for some that are longer but still way cute. Read more about my favorite denim shorts here!

Buttoned with Jeans
This is the most obvious and easiest way to wear the button down, but I love it all the same. I think it dresses up the look slightly. Just pair it with your favorite heeled sandals! Or keep it casual with a pair of slides and a straw hat. I like to front tuck button downs, and lately I’ve even been trying this thing where I’ll unbutton the bottom button, and only tuck in one half of the front.
These jeans are my new favorite from Abercrombie. They are seriously SO comfortable. I love that they don’t have any destruction on the legs, but they have a frayed hem. The ankle length is perfect for a strappy sandal or flats. I’m wearing a size 27, which is true to size for me.

Paired With a Midi Skirt
This might be my favorite outfit of the three. I have been obsessed with midi skirts lately so I couldn’t leave them out of this post. Throwing on a button down with a dressier midi instantly dresses it down. I knotted the front of the shirt, threw on a pair of heeled sandals (this would also be SO cute with sneakers) and then topped it off with my favorite straw hat. This outfit was made for summer if ya ask me.
This gorgeous pleated skirt is from Chicwish (you all know I love their skirts!) and it just happened to match my striped A&F top perfectly. The skirt is so well made + its incredibly comfy. I’m wearing a size small in both the top and the skirt.
