Splurge-Worthy Essentials
Who else is excited for Labor Day weekend?! We love holiday weekends around here because Kevin always gets an extra off day and family usually comes to visit which is so fun. Of course with Labor Day weekend comes all the sales. If you’ve been following for long, you know I love a good sale, I mean who doesn’t? However, there are times when I truly believe in splurging on specific, high quality items that will last you for years to come. So today I wanted to share with you 4 splurge-worthy essentials (almost all from the Nordstrom Sale!) that will elevate your wardrobe and never go out of style. Keep reading to find out what they are!

A Well-Fitting Blazer
One of my all-time layering pieces is a good blazer. Blazers are one of those pieces, that for me personally, can boost my confidence and make me feel like I’ve got my life together. They can be worn across seasons, in the office, and out of the office. Not to mention styled in all kinds of ways. It’s pretty easy to find a blazer, and most of you probably already have one. But how is the quality? How it the fit? These are things I’ve started asking myself when shopping for non-trendy pieces to add to my closet.
The blazer you see here isn’t the most expensive out there by a long shot, but I would consider it an investment piece, as it costs more than I would typically spend on a single item. But that’s ok because I know that it will last, it fits so well (slightly oversized but still classic), and I can wear it WAY more than 3 ways. This tiny plaid print is one that I would basically consider a neutral. But if you aren’t into a print, a solid black, grey, or camel works just as well.

A Classic Bag
I’m definitely not one to own countless designer or even expensive bags because 1. I’d rather spend the money on clothes, and 2. Kevin says over his dead body. However, I did convince him to get me this one from the Nordstrom Sale as an early anniversary present. And I’m not gonna lie, I have zero regrets haha. While I don’t believe in owning 100 bags or spending thousands on one, I do think it’s good to have that one nice bag that you can carry for years and years. One that works for the office or date night or even a run to the grocery store. Some of my favorite stores and brands that offer reasonably priced ($500 or under) quality bags include Anthropologie, Rebecca Minkoff, kate spade, Brahmin, See by Chloe, and Madewell.

A Quality Pair of Jeans
Y’all know how obsessed I’ve been with denim lately, it’s like I just cannot stop buying it. While I usually spend $75 or less on my jeans, I do think it’s worth it to have one really good quality pair that you’ll wear forever. A pair that isn’t necessarily trendy and that doesn’t have the rips and distressing we’re all accustomed to these days. The one brand of jeans I’ve always wanted to have in my collection is Paige. They are pretty pricey, but SO incredibly worth it. They feel like butter on, and I’m not exaggerating. So. Good. I kind of worked the system to get these, and by that I mean I collected Nordstrom notes until I could pay for over half of the jeans I wanted haha.
With the pair that I chose, I went for an ankle length straight/slim leg. I’ve found that straight legs are much more flattering on me these days (thanks, hips) than super skinny, and I think straight leg denim will be around for quite a while. I also went for a high waist, as I always tend to do in my jeans. The material is incredibly stretchy and comfy. These aren’t a rigid denim at all, which I like. It definitely makes me want to wear them more often. My favorite brands and places to find good denim include Paige, AG, Abercrombie, and Madewell.

A Simple Pair of Loafers
What I love about loafers, besides the fact that they’re flat, is how versatile they are. Wear them in the office or throw them on with your favorite jeans and a tee for the weekend. The keys to finding the right pair, are to make sure that they aren’t going to fall apart and that they aren’t going to rub you in all the wrong places. There’s nothing worse than finding out your new favorite flats are actually more uncomfortable than your heels.
That’s why these have made it to my list of favorite splurge-worthy essentials. I feel like you have to spend a little more to make sure you’re getting the best materials and the best fit. I am obsessed with these from Marc Fisher. They come in so many great colors and materials. I love a good pointed to, as well, There is something incredibly classic about a pointed toe.My favorite brands of loafers and mules are Steve Madden, Marc Fisher, Franco Sarto, and Jeffrey Campbell.
